Crossing the Atlantic for magic moments 097/100

I’d been offered the chance to learn the craft of magic under Mage Mellendorft of Berlin. Schooling and board and lodging was paid for; I just had to get from America to Berlin. My parents couldn’t help; they were mouse poor. We had nothing saved or that we could sell to pay the fare. So, I decided to stow away, stole onto the ship at night, hid in a lifeboat and for 4 nights went undetected until after stealing some baked zucchini from the galley, fell asleep on a deck bench & woke to shouts from an extravagantly tattooed crewman.

Z is for Zucchini
